Formation, mindset, press: a practical tactics guide
Tactics in Syndikick are a few decisions: shape, mindset, press, and substitutions. None of them is universally correct. The right answer depends on your squad and the opponent in front of you.
Pick a formation your players can fill
Choose between 4-4-2, 4-3-3, and 3-5-2. The best formation is the one your squad can field without penalties. Count your natural fits before you choose; a shape that looks aggressive on paper is a liability if two players are covering out of position.
Mindset sets the risk
Aggressive asks more of your forward line and leaves more space behind it. Cautious protects a lead but invites pressure. Balanced is the default for a reason: it keeps the game within reach until the final matchday.
Press is an energy trade
A high press can win the ball further up the pitch, but it drains energy. If your squad is already tired or another matchday is close, a lower press preserves the players you need later in the season.
Use the bench at half-time
You can change mindset, press, and make up to three substitutions at the break. If the first half goes badly, fix one thing: the shape, the mindset, or a tired player. Do not rewrite everything at once.
Submit early, then leave it alone
Orders are locked before the fixture. Set them when you have a clear plan, not five minutes before the lock while second-guessing a coin flip.
