How to build a balanced squad in Syndikick

The fastest way to lose a matchday is to field a squad of good players in the wrong shape. Balance beats raw OVR, especially in the lower divisions.

Start with positions, not ratings

A player played out of position loses effective OVR. Before you sign another striker, check whether your full-backs and central midfield are natural fits. A 72 in the right slot usually beats a 76 in the wrong one.

Keep one spare in every line

Injuries and suspensions are rolled after matches. If your only centre-back is unavailable, the whole shape collapses. Carry at least one cover option for defence, midfield, and attack — the squad cap is 20 cards for a reason.

Protect your energy

Energy lowers effective OVR, and tired players perform worse. Energy recovers daily, so rotate before the bar turns red. The Repair bay and a full recharge offer are there when several starters are drained at once.

Sell the card you never start

Creds on the bench do nothing. If a player has not started for three matchdays and is not cover for a thin position, list them. The market is how a mid-table squad becomes a promotion squad.

Upgrade the spine first

A +1 OVR upgrade is most valuable at goalkeeper, centre-back, and central midfield, where every action touches the result. Upgrade the spine before you upgrade a luxury winger.
